The Director-General of Osinbajo Grassroots Organization Barr. Ifeoluwa Fasoranti has described Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo SAN as an icon of modern leadership, a leadership that is unencumbered by worrisome controversies or deep-rooted primordial sentiments. According to him, “Osinbajo’s track record of public service is characterized by honesty, integrity, high performance and elegant accomplishments.” Barr. Fasoranti was speaking in Akure while addressing representatives of Movement for Better Nigeria led by Mr. Isaiah Alabi. The Movement had expressed interest in the Vice-President and wanted to be part of his rapidly-expanding support base nationwide particularly in Ondo State.
Justifying his organisation’s choice of Osinbajo for the presidential seat of the country, Fasoranti said, “Our man is a graduate of a highly respected political school of thought in the country and he has come of age and attained the national leadership status in his own right.” “Besides,” continued the Director-General, “his sterling performance as Vice-President has recommended him to the next level, which is the presidency of Nigeria.”
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is, however, yet to declare his intention to contest the presidential seat. In spite of this, many groups have risen up all over the country to start championing his candidacy. Commenting on this, Barr. Fasoranti said, “What is good is good. Osinbajo is good and Nigerians of various classes have identified him as such. He is therefore the man of the moment who many organizations and groups, including ours, are rooting for as the right person to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.” Continuing, he explained that Prof. Osinbajo SAN had everything it takes to be President. “He is a performer, he is an achiever, he is an intellectual, he is a professional success, he is a resourceful leader, he is a decision maker, he is an economic wizard, he is bold. We need a person like him to confront Nigeria’s hydra-headed challenges of insecurity, unemployment, widespread poverty, and sociopolitical decadence. Nigeria deserves to keep moving forward and if it must do so after Buhari, Osinbajo must be at the driver’s seat of the nation’s vehicle of progress. He is simply the best for the job.”
